Dessie P. Edlen

Dessie Patricia Edlen, nee Abt, was born on December 31, 1956 in Dayton, OH and left this earthly plane on March 5, 2025. Lover of animals, the ocean, and green spaces, Pat is survived by her children Danni (Kevin) Stiverson, Shannon (Tucker) Greene, and Joshua (Jennifer) Edlen. Dessie is also survived by her grandchildren Kaya Karp, Hailey Stiverson, and Lilly Greene, as well as her long-time friend and caretaker Matthew Edlen. Patty was loved by and is survived by many siblings, nieces, and nephews, who she cherished. She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Bonnie Abt, her brothers John Abt Jr., Dexter Jones and Timothy Abt, her sisters Linda Hopkins, Barbara Ann Abt, and Melissa Abt, and her nephew Russell Hopkins.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cowan Lake State Park Dance Pavillion on May 25, 2025. Please consider wearing your dancing on the table shoes. In lieu of services, please consider exchanging ghost stories with and sleeping under the stars near your loved ones. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider planting some flowers in your back yard. If you like to wander the forest, please consider finding a sapling that may not be getting the light it needs and moving it to a spot where it could have a fighting chance. As a cheerleader of the underdog and caretaker of the small and struggling beings of this world, Patricia would really like that.
