Destiné Jaboin, known to many as "Papa De'", a cherished patriarch and esteemed member of the Haitian community of Côte-de-Fer, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024 at the age of 105 and 10 months, in Stoughton, Massachusetts. Born on February 9, 1919, in Haiti, Destine lived a full and vibrant life that spanned over a century of profound changes and personal achievements.
The son of Bazile and Hortenzia Jaboin, Destiné carried the torch of his family's legacy with pride and dedication. He was the beloved husband of the late Marie A. Jaboin, with whom he shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Together, they raised a family that became his greatest joy and the centerpiece of his life.
Destiné was a devoted father whose wisdom and guidance shaped the lives of his children: Solange Jaboin, Renaud Jaboin and his wife Marie- Lourdes Jean-Louis, Jean-Claude Jaboin and his wife Margareth Derosema, Destine Jaboin Rimpel and her husband Luc Joseph Rimpel, Claudette Jaboin and her husband Marc-Gregoire Derissé, Rodrigue Jaboin, Franck Joseph Jaboin, the late Claude Joseph Jaboin, the late Jean Mary Jaboin and his living wife Mireille Coquillon. He also held a special place in the hearts of his siblings, including his brother Dester Jaboin of Haiti, and mourned the loss of those who predeceased him. Beloved Grandfather to 21 Grandchildren: Sandra S Cherubin, Wesley Pierre-Marie Jaboin and wife Rose Melie Jaboin, Jerry Stanley Cherubin, Cassandra Jaboin-Lynce and husband Claude Angelo Lynce, Junior Renaud Jaboin, Dimitri Stanley Rimpel, Stephane Vladimir Rimpel, Gerald Nere Jr, Sandy Jaboin and husband Lubenson Joseph, Claudia Venessa Nere, Jennifer Jaboin Roseau and her husband Philippe Roseau, Roghandi Destiné Jaboin, Vladimir Nere, Melissa Destine Rimpel, Regine Francesca Jaboin, Claudjena Christara Jaboin, Jonathan Elien Nere, Danvick Jaboin, Keisha Jaboin, Brayton Joseph Jaboin, Francesca Jaboin. Great Grand-father to Dashon Aramis Cherubin, Elianna Marley Jaboin, Jerrymiah Cherubin, Jordan Jean Mary Jaboin, Leo-André Jaboin, Phillipe Jude Roseau, Cassian D. Alvin Lynce, Caiden Lynce, Caylen Lynce, Mia Joie Roseau, Maximus Josef Rimpel, Luka Vladimir Rimpel and Khelanie Joseph. Goddaughter: Magalite Sylvain. Numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his devotion to his family, he was a hard worker, a baker who took great care of his business.
He was an active and supportive member of the Saint Mathias Church. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, providing strength and comfort throughout his years.
Destiné's interests were as rich and varied as his life experiences. He found great joy in the simple pleasures of playing cards and dominos with friends and family. Music, a universal language that transcends all barriers, was one of Destiné's deepest passions. It was fitting that, in his final moments, he was surrounded by the melodies that had provided the soundtrack to his remarkable journey.
Destiné's life was one of resilience, love, and deep commitment to his family and community. He will be remembered for his unwavering support, his infectious smile, and the countless lives he touched through his generosity and spirit.
As we bid farewell to Destiné Jaboin, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a heart that loved without bounds, and a legacy that will endure forever in the memories of those who knew him. He has left us with a treasure trove of moments to cherish and lessons to live by. Though he may be gone from our sight, his spirit will continue to inspire us every day.
Destiné's family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who have shared in his life and supported them during this time. His memory will be honored in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, and the love we continue to give, just as he did so freely during his time with us.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, December 20th from 3 pm-7 pm at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington St. Canton, MA 02021. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 21st at the Immaculate Conception Church of Stoughton at 9:30 am. Burial to follow mass at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
