Devanna Likes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Calvary Memorial Funeral Home - Hobbs on Jan. 27, 2026.
Devanna Leea Likes, age 68, of Hobbs, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family on January 27, 2026.

She and her twin sister, Devonna, were born on December 27, 1957 in Monahans, TX to Jack and Nina Ottaberry.

She was a waitress and bartender for many years. Devanna lived in several towns in Texas and moved to New Mexico in 1981. She met the love of her life, David Likes, in Hobbs in 1988. They were married for 38 years and shared a beautiful life, but never a dull moment. Their love was one that most only dream of. David and Devanna started their own pilot car business together in 2017 and that became something she was very proud of. Devanna's passion was her family and she never met a stranger. She would give anyone in need her last dollar and never think twice about it. Devanna loved with all of her heart and never put herself before others. She never needed fancy clothes or designer purses but she did like her jewelry. She also loved to gamble and travel, most often to destinations with casinos. This was a guilty pleasure that she shared with her children. Devanna was also a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan and loved to gamble with Donny on games against the Eagles. Depending on who won, they always made sure to call and give each other a hard time. She was always a good sport with his incessant teasing.

Devanna and her twin, Devonna, shared an unbreakable bond and were definitely partners in crime until the very end. She was her daughter's best friend and adopted mom and grandma to many over the years.

Devanna is survived by: her husband, David Likes, her twin sister, Devonna Songer and husband Rusty of Midland, TX, a daughter, Stacy Stroud of Hobbs, NM, and a son, Donny Cates and wife Cassie of Andrews, TX. She also has a stepson, Justin Spearman of Hobbs, NM and a step-daughter, Kallie Likes-Daniel and husband Daniel of Clovis, NM a sister-in-law, Paula Ottaberry of Midland, TX. 9 grandchildren: Brittany & Logan Needham, Ashley Cates, Haylee Dockens, Dakota and Ali Bates, Kerrington, Peyton, and Corbin Cates, Jordan & Jerry Rhoudes, and Kylie Wright and 12 step-grandchildren. She has 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by: her parents, Jack and Nina Ottaberry, a sister, Deborah Kay Eubank, a brother, Donny Ottaberry, a grandson, Mikey Helms, and a granddaughter, Mackenzie Wright.
