Devin Cogdill Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Walnut Lawn Funeral Home - Springfield on Feb. 2, 2026.
From the moment he entered the world, Devin was overcoming the odds. Born in Hamburg, Germany, on March 23, 1992-three and a half months early-Devin was 1 pound and 15 ounces of remarkable resilience. The extraordinary circumstances of his birth were just the beginning of a life defined by enduring strength.

Devin grew up in Southwest Missouri and eventually made Springfield his home. His educational journey reflected both his determination and his vibrant spirit, attending both Logan Rogersville High School and the Missouri School for the Blind in St. Louis.

Music was the heartbeat of Devin's life. He was a gifted musician with perfect pitch, a beautiful voice, and the incredible ability to memorize lyrics after hearing a song only once. Devin was asked to sing almost everywhere he went-church, school, camp, by friends and even strangers-and he would offer his music without hesitation. People often said he had "the voice of an angel", but to Devin, his voice was simply the means by which he shared what lived within him. He participated in school musicals and sang with the Children's Choir of Southwest Missouri. His talent also led him to perform as a featured soloist with the Men's Glee Club of the University of Northern Iowa-a testament to both his vocal ability and his passion for sharing music with others.

Devin's faith was central to who he was. His life was not always without hardship or struggle, yet even in the midst of it, his love for Jesus was unmistakable. Christ was the anchor in his life, the source of hope and redemption that defined him far more than his accomplishments or adversities. Those who knew Devin witnessed a life-with all its joys, triumphs, mistakes, adventures, heartaches, and victories-that pointed continually toward Christ, from his first breath to his final. Devin Craig Cogdill, 33, entered glory on January 29, 2026.

Devin is survived by his loving parents, Brian and Julie Cogdill of Kimberling City, MO; his brothers Joshua Cogdill and wife Miriah of Nixa, MO; Ethan Cogdill of Springfield, MO; and Noah Cogdill and wife Laura of Nixa, MO. Devin also leaves behind his grandmother Jane Cogdill of Springfield, MO; grandparents Dennis and Nancy Merry of Kimberling City, MO; nieces and nephews Charlie, Gus, Philip, Lincoln, and Margot; along with a host of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.

He is reunited in spirit with his Pappaw, Knial Cogdill of Rogersville, MO.

Visitation will be held on February 5, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at South Haven Baptist Church (2353 S. Campbell Ave).
