Devin Graves

Devin Richard Graves (formerly of Sioux City, Iowa) age 33, passed away suddenly on May 25, 2023 following a motorcycle accident in Austin, Texas. Memorial services will be held at Meyer Brothers Funeral Home in Sioux City at a date to be announced.
Devin was born November 20th, 1989 in Fort Riley, Kansas to Jerry D. & Elizabeth A. Graves where his father proudly served in the U.S. Army. Devin was the middle child with older brother Skyler and younger brother Justin. As a child it was common to see Devin outside playing catch, shooting paintball guns, playing at clay hill with his neighborhood friends and cousins who all grew up in Leeds, Iowa. A natural born leader, everyone gravitated towards Devin and it was common to have lots of friends and cousins over at his house where Devin would lead everyone on his adventures. Whether it was fishing and swimming at blue lake, early morning bike rides, or a game of tackle football the adventures were always memorable.
Devin had a special relationship with his grandparents Jerry E. Graves and Janice (Wolf) Graves.
As a child he spent lots of time at their house enjoying grandma's fresh baked goodies, late night bon fires, working at the farm, and way too many "sodie-breaks" until his grandfathers unexpected death in 2013, however he remained extremely close to his grandmother.
After high school, Devin moved to Iowa City where he attended Kirkwood College to become an electrician. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and lived every day to its fullest. He eventually moved back to Sioux City where he became a proud father of both Zaylie Ann and Caylyx Jordan. As a father at a young age, we saw a shift from a boy to a man as he became a licensed electrician. He truly loved nothing more than his children and making a good life for them. As a father, his adventures never stopped and eventually he settled in Colorado. He often posted to social media his expeditions with his kids to beautiful waterfalls, alpine lakes, snowboarding in the mountains, art museums, and big city cultural events. He said recently, "life's a canvas, be abstract" and if you were lucky enough to know Devin you would say he did just that.
Devin was a talented electrician, he worked for large companies (including Tesla) but eventually became a self-employed electrician which gave him the freedom to pursue his true dream as an entrepreneur. Devin often attended red carpet events, modeling shows, and open mic nights at local comedy venues where he would be expertly networking and building relationships within that industry. You could often find him at various photoshoots posing behind the wheel of a sports car with a big smile on his face.
Devin was always on the road to self-improvement and being his best self, as an adult he was always jumping at the opportunity to grow as a man which was perhaps his most memorable trait. He travelled often and would often stop in his hometown of Sioux City to catch up with friends and close family members. Devin is preceded by his grandfather Jerry E. Graves, aunts, uncles, cousins, and many close friends.
