Devlin Kain Joseph Johnson was born on November 19, 2001.

Devlin left us at 24 years of age on January 15, 2026.

Devlin was known to his family and friends as D.J. He was so proud to be a life long Austinite, that he had his childhood home’s zip code tattooed on his arm.

D.J. is survived by wife Candice Byer; his mother Tiffany Robinson and her life partner, Timothy Moore; maternal grandparents Terri Riggs Fenner and John C. Fenner. He is also survived by his father, George Randal Johnson and wife Elissa and two adult step sisters. Additionally survived by Uncles, Joe Fenner, wife Brooklyn and their son Chase, John T. Fenner and cousins Damien and Morgan; and his Aunt Kristen Leigh and son Chad Martin.

D.J was a man who always put other people’s needs before his own. D.J. loved school and spent a lot of time on the honor roll, his favorite subject was advanced math. He also made time to play football and run track for O’Henry Middle School. He was a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, bringing home a trophy in his first High School regional competition at Texas A & M. University. Photography, writing and recording music were high on his list of interests along with Sherwood Renaissance Fair where he spent many years at summer camps. He proudly graduated in 2020 during the pandemic with his parents in attendance.

DJ had a huge impact on countless people’s lives. He was someone who brought energy, loyalty, and love into every room he walked into. He made people feel understood, supported, and accepted for who they were. To know DJ was to be changed by him, and his loss is deeply felt by everyone who had the privilege of calling him a friend, family, or loved one.

An edited EE Cummings poem from D.J.’s Grieving family.

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart).

I am never without it.

I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet).

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows.

(Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud.

and the sky of the sky of a tree called life, which grows.

higher than a soul can hope, or a mind can hide).

and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart.

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart).
