Devon Allen Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Scott Funeral Home on Mar. 2, 2026.
Devon Jermaine "Vito" Allen Jr., age 32, of Jeffersonville, was born on April 20, 1993, and was called home on February 27, 2026. Though his passing leaves a space that cannot be filled, he leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable moments that will never fade.

Vito, also affectionately known as "Bookie," was a man of quiet strength and unmistakable personality. He moved through life in his own way and on his own time - something everyone who loved him understood well. If you invited Devon somewhere, he was coming… but he wasn't staying long. He'd walk in, dap everybody up, flash that familiar smile, maybe grab a plate, and just when you thought the night was getting started, he'd already slipped out. No announcement, no drawn-out goodbyes. One minute he was there, the next someone would ask, "Where'd Devon go?" and the answer would always be, "Oh, he been left." That was Devon - showing love simply by showing up, leaving memories that made people laugh long after he was gone.

He had a deep love for country music - the storytelling kind filled with life, heartbreak, and resilience. Devon loved turning the music up loud, singing every word alongside his children, creating moments filled with joy and connection. A proud United States Army veteran, he also enjoyed sharing war stories, captivating listeners with memories and reflections that revealed both his humor and his depth.

For ten dedicated years, Bookie worked at Chemtrusion, where he built more than a career - he built friendships and lasting bonds. His reliability, commitment, and steady work ethic spoke volumes about the kind of man he was and earned him the respect of everyone who worked beside him. Bookie was preceded in death by his mother, Leatha Renee Turner, and his grandparents: Mary Turner, Connie Moore & Willie Turner.

Above all else, Bookie was a devoted father. He leaves behind the love of his life, Kaylen Truesdale, and his cherished children: Caiden, Kandyn, Parker, and Liam. Being a dad was his greatest pride and joy. They loved spending days together at the park, outside in nature, enjoying the warmth of the sun on their faces, laughing until they hurt! His love for his children was constant and unwavering, and his spirit will live on through their laughter, their strength, and the lessons he shared with them every day.

Bookie will also be deeply mourned by his father, Devon "Vito" Allen, Sr; brothers, Dionte (Tyana), Jaylan, Vontae, and Vontrey; his sisters, Nicole, Shanice (Chrystal), Vontasia, and Von'shay; his aunts, Niecy (Keith) and Tara (Doug); his grandmother, Betty; his uncle, Kevin; his nieces; and a large circle of cousins, extended family, and friends who loved him dearly. Bookie's family was big, close-knit, and full of love, and he held a special place in every heart connected to it. Though his time here feels far too short, his life was full - full of laughter, music, loyalty, and love. Today, we honor him not only with tears, but with gratitude for the memories he gave us, the smiles he left behind, and the impact he made simply by being himself. May his memory bring comfort, his spirit offer guidance, and his love continue to shine through all who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Scott Funeral Home (2515 Veterans Parkway, Jeffersonville). Friends may visit from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home.
