DeVon C. "Dee" Paczkowski, 80, of Mishawaka, Indiana passed away at 7:17 a.m. Monday, January 1, 2024, in his home, with his wife and children at his side. DeVon was born on November 4, 1943 in South Bend to Clement and Irene (Jozwiak) Paczkowski, and was a lifelong resident. He retired in 2009 from Lock Joint Tube. On April 24 1964, in St. Casimir Catholic Church, he married Lorraine H. Swartz, who survives. DeVon was blessed to marry into a loving family. He is also survived by his daughter, Jill (Ron) Zook of Granger, Indiana; his son, Michael Paczkowski of Mishawaka, Indiana; two grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew Pietrzack) Paczkowski and Angela Paczkowski; and two great-grandsons, Carson Sainato and Landyn Paczkowski. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clem and Irene Paczkowski; one son, Christian Paczkowski; one granddaughter, Abigail Zook; and one brother, James Paczkowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2024 in St. Pius X Catholic Church, with Rev. Msgr. Willam C. Schooler, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Thursday in St. Pius X Catholic Church. DeVon was a barber while serving in the United States Navy. He started to play the accordion at age seven and enjoyed playing for family and friends. After retirement, he worked part-time at Menards on Grape Road and played the accordion during the holidays. He was an avid Chicago White Sox and Notre Dame fan. He loved Melissa, Abigail, Carson and Landyn and were part of their lives every day. Memorial Contributions should be directed to the Beacon Children's Hospital Hematology Oncology Clinic.
