Betty Louise Chapman, 89, of New Carlisle, IN, passed away on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at Raclin House, Mishawaka, IN. She was born on December 22, 1935, in Kendallville IN, to the late Emmett and Mildred (Johnson) Shippy. On January 19, 1957, as Betty Louise Shippy, she married Jerry Charles Chapman, who preceded her in death on November 28, 2022. Along with her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Stuart Shippy and sisters Patty Wolff, Janice Swank, also Grandson Calvin Watkins and Great Granddaughter Katrina Singh. Betty is survived by a sister Susan (Ed) Walters, of South Bend and her children, Scott Chapman, Lynn Dede (Greg) Chapman, Kimberley (Ken) Huston of New Carlisle and Jeri-Lee (Scott) Burnett of Bay St. Louis, MS. Five grandchildren, Joanna Singh (Watkins), Chad Renfro, Kristina Jarka, Jessica Renfro, Kenny Huston and 7 great-grandchildren. Betty belonged to New Carlisle Community Church. She was an accomplished and dedicated pianist and organist. She entertained family and guests for years with her musical talent as well playing for Church services and many weddings.

She enjoyed golf, knitting, crocheting, cross stitch and painting. She was artistic and enjoyed sharing her talents with the Grandchildren. Betty is now reunited with Jerry and will be dearly missed. Memorial contributions may be made to the New Carlisle Community Church. Per her wishes, there will be no services, cremation will take place. Kim, & Dede, sorry for your loss. Her musical talents will be missed and we have enjoyed hearing it was a skill that stayed with her during her troubles in the past few years. Her church was so happy to have been blessed with her talents.
