Devon Denise Strube peacefully passed away on October 18, 2025, surrounded by her loving family and friends. Born March 12, 1965, in Casper, Wyoming, to Beecher (Ed) Strube and Donna Golden Strube, Devon's life was marked by a deep love for the outdoors. Her passion for fishing, hunting, horseback riding, and the mountains remained with her throughout her life.

Devon married Bruce Stratton in 1986, they later divorced in 1998. It was during this time that she discovered her deep love for the Absaroka Mountain Range and Union Pass near Dubois, Wyoming, a place that forever held a special place in her heart. In 2022, Devon found enduring love with Jim Peterson, who remained by her side until her passing. Together they enjoyed rodeo, horses and all things western.

A proud graduate of Kelly Walsh High School in 1983, Devon furthered her education, earning both a bachelor’s degree at the University of Wyoming and later a master’s degree in education. Following in the footsteps of her parents, she dedicated 30 years to teaching high school AP Psychology, Sociology, and World History at both Natrona County High School and Kelly Walsh High School, retiring in 2022.

A beloved educator, Devon left an indelible mark on countless students. She genuinely cared about their lives and future success. She served as a student council advisor and participated in various school activities, including a transformative six-week trip to Ghana, Africa, focused on World History. Devon received the Wyoming Association of Student Councils’ Meritorious Distinction from 1999 to 2010, was the recipient of the National Student Council Gold Council Award from 2000-2010 and received the Medallion of Excellence Award in 2007. Additionally, she received multiple Significant Educator nominations from students between 1998 to 2022.

Devon’s love extended beyond the great outdoors; she cherished her family and friends deeply. She was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend, as well as a loving pet owner, especially to her dog, Marty. Her absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew and loved her. As a Christian, Devon found comfort in her faith, knowing she was going home to Jesus.

Devon is preceded in death by her father, Beecher (Ed) Strube; mother, Donna Strube; uncles, Martin Strube and Lew Christensen; and aunts, Barbara Strube Yonts and Kay Greenlee.

She is survived by her family, Debbie (Guy) Ehlers, Beecher (Cathy) Strube, Julie Fresquez, Russ (Tami) Updike, and Sandy Updike (aka her beloved Momma Lulu). She also leaves behind nieces Abigail Strube, Sarah (Mike) Bradley, Baylie Fresquez, Jade Updike, and nephews Beecher (Alexa) Strube, Joel (Kristen) Strube, Camden (Suzy) Fresquez, Evan (Sierra) Fresquez, as well as great-nieces and nephews Jett, Ford, Lily, Lyla, Jaxon, and Nolan. She is also survived by her uncles Mike Golden and Bob Yonts, as well as several cousins, and her fiancé Jim Peterson.

A Celebration of Life was held at Cornerstone Church on November 8, 2025, at 10 a.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the Casper Mountain Lions Club for the Lee McCune Braille Trail, PO Box 2305, Casper, WY 82602, or Project Kenny, Attn. Carol Salveson, PO Box 742, Mills, WY 82644.
