Kathleen Moore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Evergreen Funeral Home on Mar. 13, 2026.
Kathleen "Kathy" Moore of Colorado Springs, Colorado, passed away peacefully at home on

March 6, 2026, leaving behind her loving husband and extended family. She was 68 years old.

She was born on August 22, 1957 in San Bernardino, California, to Harold and Marion Kissel.

As part of an Air Force family, Kathy moved to the Philippines and then to New Jersey before

settling in Cheyenne, Wyoming, at the age of six. She and her older brother Steve and younger

sister Linda grew up in the countryside north of town. As a teenager, she helped with the

family's summer business at Mountain Meadow Cabins outside of Centennial, Wyoming.

Kathy graduated from Central High School in Cheyenne and was so happy she was able to

attend her 50th class reunion last summer. She also attended Oral Roberts University in Tulsa,

Oklahoma, and the University of Wyoming, where she studied communications.

In the mid-90s, she moved to her favorite place, Colorado Springs, Colorado, home of Pikes

Peak and the Air Force Academy.

Kathy was always curious and eager to learn new things. Her diverse career included jobs in

communications, recruitment, sales, customer service, and real estate. A natural people person,

she then chased after her childhood dream of becoming a flight attendant, a job that was a

perfect match for her warm and friendly personality.

She pursued a variety of interests over the years, including selling Avon products, custom

jewelry, and doTerra essential oils. She and her husband John were also long-time vendors at

American Classics Marketplace in Colorado Springs, where she liked to volunteer.

Kathy loved traveling and learning about archeology and ancient civilizations, as well as

cheering on the Denver Broncos and other Colorado sports teams. She made frequent trips to

the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo where she had a special place in her heart for the giraffes.

Family was very important to Kathy. She was devoted to her husband John (married in 1997),

her children and grandchildren, as well as her special dog companions (Sparky, Kelsey, Jazzie

and Tanner). She will be greatly missed.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband John Moore of Colorado Springs, CO; her daughter

Heather (Steve) Sandifer of Santee, CA; her son Chris (Sara) Hall of Cheyenne, WY. She is

also survived by her three stepdaughters: Jennifer Moore of Angola, NY; Caitie (Jon) Allis of

Orchard Park, NY; and Andrea Shae Moore of Buffalo, NY.

Affectionately known as "Nana", she leaves behind many cherished grandchildren: Caden and

Cash Hall; Emma and Madelyn Sandifer; Kaidyn Lazar; Prestyn and Brooklyn Zamito; Ryann,

Bentley and Noah Wall; Jessie and Walker Allis; and Rosalie Lou Borowiak.

Kathy is also survived by her father, Hal Kissel of Cheyenne, WY, and her siblings Steve Kissel

of Cheyenne, WY, and Linda (Ray) Beattie of San Diego, CA.

If you are interested in making a donation in Kathy's memory, the family suggests contributing to

The Giraffe Project at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs.
