Deward "D.L." Reed

Deward "D.L." Reed, a cherished family man and a pillar of strength, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2025, in Woodstock, GA, at the age of 90. Born on April 30, 1935, in Sand Mountain, AL, Deward dedicated 30 years of hard work and commitment to General Motors before his well-deserved retirement.
Known for his strong will and plain words, Deward was respected for his integrity and kindness. His caring and generous spirit was the hallmark of his character. Deward enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tending to his garden, activities that reflected his love for the outdoors and the simple joys of life.
Above all, Deward's heart belonged to his family. They shared a close-knit bond that was evident to all who knew them. His presence will be deeply missed, but the legacy of his love and steadfastness will continue to inspire those he has left behind.
He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Reed; parents, Corbitt and Allie Reed; brothers, Herbert Reed and Hoyt Reed; and sister, Bonnie Reed.
D.L. is survived by his wife of 72 years, Ruth Reed; children, Linda McDaniel (Travis), Gena Tatum (Gramps), Timmy Reed and Nancy Spencer (Artie); daughter-in-law, Joana Gentry; eleven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private Celebration of Life will be held.
