DeWayne Stevenson Broadwater, born September 22, 1958, to Emma Doris Broadwater and Ervin Savage, in Accomack County, Virginia; where he was raised for most of his childhood, peacefully took his rest on May 27, 2025. DeWayne was second to the oldest of four children, two girls and two boys.
DeWayne received his early education in Accomack County, Virginia public schools, before moving to Wilmington, Delaware where he attended Burnett Middle School, and P.S. DuPont High School.
The Man, above all else, was a dedicated father to his children. He lived his life as if every day was his last. He was a self-taught contractor who could fix anything, if you could keep him in one place long enough, he would complete the job.
DeWayne was preceded in death by his father, Ervin Savage; his grandparents, Juanita Watson, Will and Thelma Chandler and his Aunt Sally Ann Savage.
He leaves to cherish his memory and his mother, Doris Broadwater. His direct children; DeWayne, Pierce, Reese are loved. Before his direct children he fostered over 8 children into adulthood. After that three grandchildren, Indira, Israel, and Ireland. Accompanied by two sisters, Coletta White, Notheast, MD; DeSheryl Broadwater, Wilmington, DE, and Brother Alonzo(Darnell) Broadwater of Atlanta, GA. Two aunts, Patricia Watson and Barbara Harmon, both of Mappsville, Virginia. His brothers from another, Antony Lewis, Karl Patterson, and Owen Napier. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends celebrate the passing of The Man.
DeWayne will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family. A legacy of kindness and strength he leaves behind. His impact was profound-and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him.
