Dewayne Derksen Obituary

Published by Legacy on Mar. 12, 2024.
DeWayne Vernon Derksen, 81, passed away on March 10, 2024. He was born in Mountain Lake, Minnesota on January 24, 1943 to Clarence and Esther (Flaming) Derksen.
DeWayne was an avid outdoorsman who felt most at home with nature and animals. He always had a bird feeder going and could tell you every visitor that came to it. He loved his kids and grandkids and was a generous man. DeWayne was also extremely well traveled and loved to experience other cultures having lived overseas and worked very hard to experience and understand other cultures. He held multiple advanced degrees in the world of Science and Microbiology.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Darryl Derksen.
He is survived by his three children Brigheta (Mark) Webster of Oklahoma City, OK, Troy (Lara) Derksen of Corinth, TX, and Kari (Garrett) Truskett of Independence, KS, a sister Sharen (C.T) Spear of Corinth, Texas along with seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
DeWayne believed that flowers will not do him any good now, instead please send flowers to someone you love and think of him fondly when you do. The family asks that you use a mom and pop flower shop and support your local florist. DeWayne was also very passionate about animals and the family would ask you to donate in his memory to: Beauties and Beasts Animal Rescue online at https://beautiesandbeasts.org/donate or by mailing your donation to 136 S. Pattie St., Wichita, KS 67211.
