Dewayne Evans Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jul. 18, 2023.
Dewayne Wheeler Evans, 50, passed away on July 14, 2023, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was born on August 21, 1972, in Columbia, Louisiana. Dewayne is loved by his many friends and family members. He is survived by his wife of the home, Merideth Evans, his two sons Connor Evans and Brycen Evans, his mother Loretta Hicks, his honorary father Roy Hicks, his brother Tim Evans, and his sister Cindy Mills. He is preceded in death by his father Lee Evans, brothers Richard Cheek, and Dan Evans, and his sister Tammy Evans.
Dewayne was a graduate of Greenwood High School in Greenwood, Arkansas. He spent his entire professional career in sales with most of those years spent in automotive sales. Throughout his life, he enjoyed a variety of sports including golfing, bowling, swimming, and bicycling. He loved being outside and staying active, but most importantly he loved God.
His favorite activity was riding his bicycle, and in his final moments that is exactly what he was doing. He died doing what he loved as he was heading home to his family that he loved so very much. His boys were his pride and joy. The world is a little less bright without him in it. He will be missed so greatly by those that knew and loved him.
Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, at 6:00 pm at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 8712 Horan Drive, Fort Smith, Arkansas. Services and cremation are under the direction of Edwards Funeral Home.

We will sure miss all the ways Dewayne made us laugh, and strive to be better people. I didn´t have the pleasure of knowing you like my brothers did, but I considered you part of the family! You will be missed greatly. Sending prayers, and condolences to the family and friends that this has affected. Dewayne was a light in this dark world.

Dewayne was a a good friend for almost 30 years. He taught me to be a better person and I wish I had been as a good friend to him. He was head and shoulders above me. I'll miss the days of golfing and just hanging out. The world lost a bright light that burned out way to early. I pray he rests in peace and he will be truly missed.
