In remembrance of a beloved soul, James Junior Gibbons, age 87, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, entered his heavenly home on August 23, 2025. He was born on November 9, 1937, in Muldrow, to James Elbert and Essie Mae (Owens) Gibbons.

On September 3, 1956, he married the love of his life, Shirley Jean (Davis) Gibbons, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Together they shared 68 beautiful years filled with family, faith, and love. James worked hard to provide for his family and retired from Baldor Electric after a long and dedicated career.

James enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, especially baseball, fishing, and cheering for OU Football and the St. Louis Cardinals. He was a man of faith, a member of the Freewill Baptist Church, and will always be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley Gibbons of Muldrow, OK; his son, Gary Wayne Gibbons; his grandchildren, Brandon Wayne Gibbons and Brandy Lynn (Mears) Gibbons; and nine great-grandchildren: Kain, Kallista, Bradon, Kenzie, Katrina, Konner, Lucas, Marissa, and Adrian. He is also survived by his sisters, Margaret and Wanda.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Essie Gibbons; his daughter, Contrina Gibbons; his siblings, Dorothy, George, and Gary Don; and his grandparents, Johnny and America Owens, and James and Margaret Gibbons.

A visitation will be held Thursday, August 28, 2025, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. The funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2025, at Cornerstone Free Will Baptist Church with burial to follow.
