Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. DeWayne Carter Richardson, 90, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, December 6, 2024 at New Chapel Hill Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Dr. Marty Black and Rev. Ron Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in New Chapel Hill Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
Visitation will be from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. Thursday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.
Mr. Richardson died December 03, 2024 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Richardson was a member of New Chapel Hill Baptist Church and the Johnny Dunham Sunday School Class. DeWayne was born April 04, 1934 in LaGrange, MO. In his early career he worked at Sears Appliance Repair Warehouse for many years. He was very talented in fixing appliances and started his own company Richardson Appliance in 1965, which he enjoyed serving and making friends with his many customers. DeWayne and his loving wife, Jo celebrated their 45th anniversary this year. DeWayne and Jo enjoyed barbecuing competitions (brisket, ribs and pork) and they traveled all over the south winning numerous 1st place trophies. He could cook a delicious brisket and cooked for many of his friends on special occasions. They also participated in many festivals across the state of Louisiana with their delicacies. He won a world competition for his homemade chili in Terlingua, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Cecil and Beulah Lovene Silkwood Richardson and his son, Timmy Richardson.
Survivors: wife of 45 years, Jo L. Munholland Richardson; daughters, Karen R. Mulhearn and husband, Mike, and Lori R. Stinson and husband, Kenny Bill; sons, Jody Richardson and wife, Wendi, Todd Eppinette and wife, Sharon, Jeff Eppinette, and Brad Eppinette and wife, Janet; Brother, Rev. Ron Richardson; grandchildren, Scott Cloud, Kourtney Griggs, Grayson Richardson, Jentri Grace Richardson, Mary Lea Dunn, Heather Mullins, Marjo Eppinette, Lydia Antley, Hannah Colvin, Aaron Eppinette, Nick Eppinette, Jenna Eppinette and Michael Mulhearn; and 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Beaux Griggs, Carter Mulhearn, Grayson Richardson, Aaron Eppinette, Nick Eppinette and Garrett Dunn.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Johnny Dunham Sunday School Class.
Memorials may be made to New Chapel Hill Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank Louisiana Hospice for the kindness and compassion given to DeWayne and our family during his illness.
