David Richardson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Anderson Memorial Home & Heartland Cremation Services - Plainfield on Feb. 5, 2026.
David Charles Richardson, age 48, of Joliet, Illinois, passed away on February 1, 2026. He was born on October 11, 1977, in Elmhurst, Illinois, and was raised in Illinois, where he built a life rooted in family, hard work, and quiet generosity.

David was a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife, Christina Richardson (Kittle), and his three sons, Miller David Richardson, Jack E. Maurer, and Joshua A. Maurer, who were the center of his world. He is also survived by his mother, Debra M. Richardson (Kuse); his brother, Robert R. Richardson IV (Kimberly); his sisters, Nicole M. Nilles (Anthony) and Holly L. Held (Jason); his brother-in-law, Curt Kittle; his uncle, Wayne Kuse (Roxann); his aunt, Deborah G. Richardson; his godfather, David A. Mueller; and Dave's loyal four-legged shadow, Cooper, along with many extended family members and friends. Dave was also the fun-loving uncle to all his nieces and nephews: Max, Anderson, Jackie, Olivia, Charlie, Andrew, Samantha, Camille, Robert, and Adelynn.

David was preceded in death by his father, Robert R. Richardson III; his paternal grandparents, Robert R. Richardson Jr. and Betty Richardson; and his maternal grandparents, Bernard and Bernadine Kuse.

A graduate of Plainfield Central High School, David went on to dedicate more than 30 years of his life working in the family businesses, Richardson-Mueller, Inc. and Steel Building Systems Company. He was also a proud member of Local 150, working as a Heavy Equipment Operator, where his strong work ethic and reliability were deeply respected.

David was an Eagle Scout with the Rainbow Council, Scouting America, an achievement that reflected the values he carried throughout his life-integrity, service, and quiet leadership. Though he never sought the limelight, David was a steady presence for those around him, always willing to help, fix, or build something for someone else. He could repair almost anything and loved tinkering with tools, often creating practical and meaningful items for family and friends.

An outdoorsman at heart, David enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, scuba diving, and skiing. He loved music of nearly every kind and was a lifelong football fan, proudly cheering for the Chicago Bears. More than anything, he cherished time at home-watching TV or a movie, surrounded by the people he loved most.

David will be remembered as a kind, gentle, giving, and devoted family-man whose quiet strength and selflessness left a lasting mark on everyone who knew him. His legacy lives on through his family and the countless lives he touched through his actions rather than words.

Visitation will take place Monday, February 9, 2026 from 3-8pm at Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W Renwick Rd, Plainfield IL 60544. A funeral service will begin at 7pm. Cremation rites to be accorded.
