It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved son, Dewayne Vidal Searcy, Jr., lovingly called DJ, who departed this life on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the age of 31.

Born on November 15, 1993, in Columbus, GA, DJ was known for his vibrant spirit and fearless nature. He was the life of the party—passionate, affectionate, loving, and a true go-getter. Athletic and adventurous, DJ also stood as a role model to many. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted father and the best big brother a sister could ever ask for.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Nicole Johnson, DeWayne Searcy Sr., and Michael Johnson; his grandparents, Kate Richey and Sallie Harper; and his siblings, Markese Hood, Devahjia Smith, Deria Searcy, Kasen Johnson, and Shardaja Searcy. He is also survived by his beloved children, Lylah Rose Searcy and Layani Arayah Searcy.

The family will hold a celebration of life at a later date.

In place of flowers, the family kindly requests that you take a moment to share how DJ impacted your life.

DJ will forever remain in our hearts, and his memory will live on through the love he shared and the many lives he touched. To know DJ was to know joy, and he would want nothing more than for his life to be celebrated. Whenever you think of him, celebrate the light and love he brought into this world.
