Dewayne Whitfield

Dewayne Whitfield was born on October 27, 1957, in Wewoka, Oklahoma, to the late Alice Williams and Turner Whitfield.
He received his primary and secondary education from Douglass and Wewoka Public Schools. He continued his education at Okmulgee Technical Institute.
Dewayne accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the leadership of the late Rev. Freddie Griffis at St. Stephen's Baptist Church.
In 1998, Dewayne met and married the love of his life, Katrina Factor. Together, they raised two admirable young men, Jeremy and Jerrell.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Katrina Factor; one brother, Tommy Joe Graham; and three sisters, Doris Graham Liddell, Lois Edwards, and Jannie Lee Jordan.
He was employed at the Wewoka Brick Plant for 10 years and later at TDK in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where he worked faithfully for 38 years until his retirement.
Dewayne's favorite pastime was fishing and frying up his catch. He could fish every day if he had the chance, and it was one of his greatest joys-especially when shared with his boys, sisters, and brothers.
He was affectionately nicknamed "Cully" and "Burger" but called Wayne and Uncle Wayne by those who knew him dearly. Dewayne was known for his kind heart, sense of humor, and easygoing spirit.
On October 16, 2025, in Holdenville, Oklahoma, Dewayne peacefully transitioned from labor to reward.
He leaves to cherish his memory two sons, Jeremy Wright of Wewoka and Jerrell Wright of Ardmore; one sister,Kathy (James) Blackshire of Wewoka; two brothers, Larry (Barbara) Edwards of Oklahoma City and JohnnyWhitfield of Okmulgee; a special and devoted nephew, Larry Dee Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold him dear in their hearts.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Stout-Phillips Funeral Chapel in Wewoka, Oklahoma with Rev. Stacy Burt officiating. Interment to follow at Westwood Cemetery in Wewoka, OK.
