Dewey Lee Somsel of Manistee died on Friday, September 19, 2025 at his home with his loving wife by his side. He is with his beloved Lord & Savior.
He was born on April 11, 1944 in Brethren to Samuel & Lulu (Hanes) Somsel. He grew up on the family farm along the Big Manistee River in a large family. He graduated from Brethren High School, entered into the United States Army, serving from 1965-1967. He worked at Martin Marietta retiring in 2006.
He was a very talented carpenter and loved creating many beautiful wood working projects. He was a perfectionist and could fix just about anything, always willing to help others when called upon. He enjoyed camping, traveling, hiking, fishing, and yardwork.
Dewey married Donna Jean Baranek on September 26, 1970 at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. She survives him along with sons; Justin, Travis (Faith), Billie, & Michael and daughters Bobbilyn (Shawn) Smart, & Heather, and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son Casey (A great artist), his parents and brothers; Walter, Arthur, Carl, & Cecil, and sisters; Mary, Edna, Audrey Duncil, Bethel Pickle, & Dena Sacksteder.
Family services with Father James Bearss and Military Honors were held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dewey's name may be directed to Munson Hospice.

Donna sorry for your loss.. Dewey was a great guy.. Jim & I always enjoyed talking to him while we were at the Senior Center.. He will be missed
