Dewey Ernest Waites of Frisco, TX, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, at the age of 71. He was born on December 27, 1953, in Kingsport, TN, to James Paul & Laura Waites.
Dewey was a loving husband to Teresa Wright Waites for 48 years. He was a devoted father to Andrew (Lindsay) and grandfather to Harris and Alice, all residing in Frisco, Texas, and his son Chris (Taylor) of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
He graduated from Warsaw High School in 1972 and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana Wesleyan University in 1989. Dewey had a zest for life and pursued many interests with enthusiasm. For 40 years, he dedicated his career to the orthopedics industry as a packaging engineer. Demonstrating his diverse talents, he was also trained as an alterations tailor.
He was a dedicated hiker, with fond memories of his time on the Appalachian Trail. As a certified fitness and aerobics instructor, he inspired others to stay active, and he was an avid cyclist who participated in 5K's, biathlon and triathlon. Beyond his active pursuits, he was a car enthusiast. His green thumb was evident in his love for gardening and landscaping. When it was time to relax, he could often be found watching professional wrestling or a Rocky movie.
His Catholic faith was an important aspect of his life. He was an active parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw, IN, serving on the parish finance committee, and as a eucharistic minister and usher. He also served as co-president of the Sacred Heart Catholic School Home and School Association. Most recently, he was a member at Saint Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Frisco, TX.
Dewey is survived by his wife, children and grandchildren, as well as his sisters, Brenda and Fran, and his brother, Dudley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Paul (Delmar), and Dale.
Arrangements are entrusted to Titus Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2000 Sheridan Street, Warsaw, IN 46580. A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Warsaw, Indiana on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 11:00 am, with visitation at 10:00 am. Burial will immediately follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Warsaw, Indiana.
While gone from our sight, Dewey will live forever in our hearts.
