Funeral services will be 10:30am, Monday, November 3, 2025 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Watertown, SD.
Visitation will be 2:00pm-4:00pm, Sunday, November 2, 2025 at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Interment will be at Troy Cemetery, Troy, SD.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Troy Cemetery Association.
Dewey Zemlicka was born on February 13, 1960 to Dale and Wilma Zemlicka. He graduated from Waverly High School and Lake Area Vo-Tech Diesel Mechanics Courses. He enjoyed being asked to be a Judge at a National Competition for Vo-Tech Diesel Mechanics following his graduation from Vo-Tech. Dewey gained experience in Arapahoe, NE, at a John Deere dealership. He then moved closer to family and began a 20+ year employment with Schuneman Equipment (of course, John Deere), in Milbank. He would get some teasing as he grew up farming on Case tractors.
Dewey loved being involved in farming, tractor pulls, and following his nephews and nieces in school and sports events. He even did the Santa Claus at Waverly School back in the day.
Dewey helped with the milking chores until the herd was sold, then increased his beef herd and loved to watch the new calves come so he could see the improvements in genetics that he was learning about.
Dewey enjoyed helping with the fundraising efforts in South Shore. He was the pro at making scrambled eggs. He also helped his neighbors with yard care and had an awesome garden when he was living in Milbank.
He is survived by his mother, Wilma; siblings, Raynelle (Bill) Mueller, Daron (Val) Zemlicka and Dwight (Patty) Zemlicka; several nieces and nephews, along with grand nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Dale; an infant brother, Delonne; a grand-niece, Alexa; and his grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins.
