Connie A. Zemlicka (Keister), age 82 years, of Kewaskum was called home to be with the Lord on March 30, 2025, at Froedtert West Bend Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Connie was born on August 2, 1942, in Freeport, Illinois to Roger and Beulah Keister (Iserman). She was united in marriage to Howard Zemlicka on June 10, 1961, at The Little Brown Church in the Vale in Nashua, Iowa.
Connie graduated from Dakota High School (IL) in 1960. She was a Kindergarten Teacher at Wayne Elementary School. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, and went on to earn her Master’s degree from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Connie was a longtime member at Peace United Church of Christ where she had been Church President, Church cemetery record keeper and administrator, and served on numerous church committees.
Connie was very active in her community. She was involved with Habitat for Humanity, the Kewaskum Library Board, KEYS, Inc., and many other organizations. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, quilting, sewing, was an avid reader, and theatre enthusiast, and most recently, studying genealogy. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Those Connie leaves behind to cherish her memory include her husband of 63 years, Howard; two daughters, Julann (Jeff) Zemlicka-Retzlaff and Jennifer (Dan) Gerhartz; grandchildren, Jake Zemlicka-Retzlaff, Zachary Retzlaff, Samuel (Gabi) Zemlicka-Retzlaff, Nicolai (Brianna) Gerhartz, Anastasia Gerhartz, Aleksandr (Jenna) Gerhartz, Sophia Gerhartz, and Tsion Gerhartz; and great-granddaughters, Harper and Adeline. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Connie was preceded in death by her brother, Darrell Keister.
VISITATION: Connie’s family will greet relatives and friends on Sunday, April 6, 2025, from 2:00 p.m. until 3:45 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ – 343 First Street, Kewaskum, WI 53040.
SERVICE: A Funeral Service in remembrance of Connie will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday at Church with Rev. Eric Kirkegaard officiating.
Memorials in Connie’s name can be directed to Kewaskum Public Library Foundation.
The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Froedtert West Bend Hospital for their care and compassion.
