DIAMANTIS P. MANTIS
February 5, 1929 - August 19, 2025

Diamantis P. Mantis, age 96 passed away peacefully with family at his side, on August 19, 2025, in Santa Clarita, California (lived most of his life in Chicago).

Diamantis was born on February 5, 1929, in Achladokambos, Greece, the son of Panagiotis and Ourania (Kabouros) Mantis. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter Ourania and beloved wife Athanasia (Lagis). He is survived by his son Vasilios D. Mantis, his daughter-in-law, Aristea Mantis (Lambropoulos), and his five grandchildren. The late Ourania's children Kiki Manti Engel, George Psoras, and Vasilios' children Mary Athanasia, Diamantis, and Vasilios. He is also survived by his two great-grandchildren (Kiki's children) and grand-son-in law Christopher Engel.

The following was written by Diamantis' niece Fani who lives in Greece:

Diamantis was a rare man who walked through life with morals, faith, dignity and love. From his first steps, he knew that nothing in life was given - and yet, he didn't bend. He set out for a better tomorrow, not only for himself but for those he loved. He never forgot his roots. He never moved away from his birthplace, the blessed Achladolambo, as he many times said...

Diamantis didn't keep anything to himself. He was always present - with a good talk, an act of giving, an open and generous heart. He stood by anyone who needed him, supported, helped, hugged people in their toughest hours - never expecting anything in return.

Believed in man, in the family, in the country, in God. He was a man of silent strength, action and substance. Everything he did, he did it with love and respect - and that is why he will remain indelible in the memory of those who knew him.

This is why such people never really "leave". They stay in our hearts, in our history, in the example they left behind.

Happy Resurrection Day, Diamantis P. Mantis!

You lived generously, fought with dignity, loved without limits.

Now, rest in peace - where there is no pain, but only light.

You will now reunite with your loved ones in heaven.

May your memory be eternal!
