Diana Jean Black Meyer joyfully joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven, at the age of 76 in Marble Falls, Texas on December 4, 2024, after a long battle with kidney cancer.
Born in San Antonio, Texas on December 21, 1947, to Hugh and Elizabeth (Neutze) Black, Diana graduated from Uvalde High School in 1966 and attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. She married the love of her life, James Frederick Meyer, on January 25, 1969 in First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde, and together they started their family in Austin. Upon moving back to Uvalde in 1972, she spent her time as a loving mother, daughter, daughter-in-law, and friend. Proudly serving as a part time bookkeeper and secretary for First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde for many years, and later as a business partner with her husband at Uvalde Finance Corporation, her first priority was always her family.
Diana was an active member and served as an Elder of First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde, a member and officer of Uvalde Green Thumb Garden Club (despite her own black thumb), an avid contract bridge player along with her husband, and a willing volunteer whenever the need arose. She enjoyed spending time at the beach and the lake with her family as often as possible. She was fiercely devoted to her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and never missed an opportunity to show up to school activities, sporting events, recitals, band competitions, stock shows, and the like.
After the death of her husband in 2011, she eventually moved to Marble Falls, Texas with her daughter, Shannon Meyer and family, in 2017. During this time she was blessed to spend quality time with her family, often traveling with them and enjoying new adventures (even attending a Methodist church!). Her family was the center of her world and Marble Falls served as the perfect location to be closer to all of them. Despite the joy she experienced with her family, she missed her husband deeply, and though she will be missed greatly here on Earth, their reunion in Heaven must surely be beautiful.
Diana is survived by her: daughters, Shannon Meyer and husband Dan Colwell of Marble Falls, Jamie and Chris Holt of Dripping Springs, and Ashley and Scott Pullin of Burnet; grandchildren, Bryan Loch and wife Cynthia, Brittany Loch, Makenzie Mortensen, Brenden and Weston Holt, Elizabeth and Bo Pullin, Garen and Harrison Holt, and Linden and Garrison Colwell; great-grandchildren, Presley and Joseph Loch and Amelia Garcia; aunt, Sophie Neutze Brookbank (Gigi); beloved nieces and nephew, Kimberly Cannon, Scott Wood, and Jennifer Holbrook; and numerous extended family members.
She was preceded in death and welcomed with open arms by her: husband of 42 years, James Frederick Meyer; parents, Hugh and Elizabeth (Neutze) Black; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara Ann (Black) Wood and Richard Wood; in-laws, Kurt and Henrietta (Bierschwale) Meyer; and sister-in-law, Thelmarie (Meyer) Holbrook.
A celebration of life will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde on January 25, 2025 (James and Diana's anniversary) at 11:00 am, with reception following in the Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Uvalde or The
American Cancer Society.
