Mrs. Diana Irene (Dial) McGrew of Sparta, age 75 passed away on September 17th 2025 at NHC Healthcare of Sparta.

Born November 9, 1949 an raised in Alton, Illinois. After graduating from high school she furthered education in nursing school and had a long career in nursing. She began her career as a nurse at a local hospital before moving on to nursing at both a rest home and then home health. She retired and after the passing of her husband and moved to Tennessee to be closer to her sister.

Diana was a huge Chicago Cubs fan and always cheered them on while the majority of her family were St. Louis Cardinal fans. This was met with great competitive discussions between family members which brought everyone a chuckle. Besides her love of baseball she enjoyed crocheting, cooking and gardening. One of her favorite pass times was cutting grass with her zero turn mower that she called her little "pony". Diana loved animals too. She especially loved her two dogs, a cat and three birds.

Diana had a big caring heart and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Diana was preceded in death by her husband Dwight; son Cary Prather of Woodriver Ilinois; daughter Jennifer Hunter of Montana; parents Cecil and Helen Dial and brother Cecil Wayne Dial of Alton Illinois.

She is survived by her son Kirk Prather of Godfrey Illinois; sister Carol Dial Simmons of Sparta; brother Greg Dial of Missouri; sister-in-law Connie Dial of Alton Illinois; grandchildren Tate McCleery and Julia Mathis and other grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends Jim and Yvonne McCloud of Sparta and Linda McEuen of Illinois.

A private memorial service is planned for a later date.
