Diana Sanchez Obituary

Published by Legacy on Dec. 7, 2023.
Mary Diana Sanchez was born March 24, 1954, to John and Jesusita Pena Picon in Lubbock, TX.
She was affectionately known as Diana, Di, Tia, Grandma DD, GiGi and Yaya. She was the life of the party and our biggest supporter. EVERYONE depended on her in one way or another. She was the backbone of the entire family. She was our best friend, she gave the best advice, she scolded you when you needed it and even forgave you in an instant. Nobody had a bigger heart. All that knew her, knew that she loved to entertain.
She dedicated her life to her family and friends. Her greatest passion was to pass on the values that her parents instilled upon her. She taught us all how to live, laugh and love the way that they did. She had Grandpa's infectious smile and silliness and Grandma's talent to nurture. She was a jokester and ready at a moment's notice to be your accomplice AND alibi. She always had your back. She could always save you in your time of need whether she was working as IT support or helping you plant a garden. She was so talented and knew how to do everything because Google was her best friend. Step into the home she molded, and you could feel her warmth and love. She was always ready with a little biscochito and café or a margarita (with Patron), she loved them both. Her favorite things included music, the beach, and her family, especially her beloved grandchildren. Her family started with her daughter Lori and grew when she met the love of her life, Ruben. They were married on April 6,1986 and together built a beautiful family that grew into her most prized achievement. Together they have made the life that she had dreamt of, and they enjoyed 37 years of an amazing life. Two years ago, she was presented with the fight of her life. She was a warrior and she fought till the very end. She never gave up.
Diana is survived by husband, John Sanchez; sister in law Ernestina; children, Lori (Louis Gonzales) Olmos, Kelly Sanchez, Mary (Oscar Lopez-Hermosillo) Sanchez; grandchildren, Kelsey Gonzales, Bryanna Arredondo, Vince Arredondo, Ethan Garza, Kennedy Harris, Kensey Harris; great-grandchildren, Elyse Williams, Evelyn Williams; siblings, Beatrice (Daniel) Ortega, Carmen (Victor) Olivarez, Mary (Delfina) Rodriguez, Johnny Picon Jr.(Susanna), Frank Picon (Maria), Felix (Lucy) Picon, David (Norma) Picon, Ric Picon.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Jesusita Picon; and brother, Joe Picon.
