Diana Yundt Stephens passed away on June 28, 2025, after a life devoted to education, faith, and heartfelt connection. She was born December 23, 1951, in Montrose, Colorado, the oldest child of USMC Col. Gary and Ellen Yundt.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joel M. Stephens; their son (Joel) Morgan Stephens, Jr. and their daughter Cara Hinkson; 6 grandchildren: Jude, Jackson, Jase, & Finley Stephens and Charles and Ellen Hinkson.
She is also survived by her brother, Steven Yundt; her sister, Joanna Martin; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will forever cherish her warmth and grace.
Diana dedicated thirty-seven years of service to the Irving Independent School District, where she held numerous roles before retiring due to illness. Her commitment to nurturing young minds left a lasting legacy among students and colleagues alike.
A passionate lifelong learner, Diana earned her undergraduate degree from Mary Washington College, followed by a Master of Library Science and a Master of Education. She embraced every opportunity to grow and inspire, both in and out of the classroom.
Diana found peace and inspiration outdoors, joy in the written word, and fulfillment with family. She sought the truth relentlessly, never being too scared to admit she was wrong or when she learned something new. She was the kind of friend who was always there-whether to celebrate your greatest triumphs or offer comfort during your most difficult moments.
We rejoice in the comforting knowledge that Diana is now wrapped in the everlasting arms of Christ. Her fiercely loving presence remains with us always, a guiding light that continues to inspire. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her-for her boundless compassion, her generous spirit, and the love she so freely gave.
Even in the face of her cancer diagnosis, Diana never stopped deepening her faith. She clung to God's promises with steadfast hope, drawing strength from the words of Romans 8:38–39: "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Diana's legacy of love, learning, and unshakable faith will live on in the hearts of those she touched. Her loving and compassionate heart will be deeply missed.
Her memorial service will be held July 14, 2025, at 3:00 Pm in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church, Irving TX.
