Diane Stephanie Canellis

Diane S. Canellis (nee Chirigos), age 83, passed away on November 28, 2025. Beloved wife to the late Nicholas for 56 years; cherished mother to Pamela Perron (the late David) and Nicholas L. Canellis Jr., loving yiayia (grandmother) of Alyssa Perron, Alexis and Adrienne Canellis; sister to Vicki (the late Bill) Bryant and Nancy (Wellman) Hoff; sister-in-law to the late George (the late Nancy) Canellis; fond aunt and loving cousin to many. Diane is preceded in death by her parents Nicholas and Frances Chirigos.

Diane grew up on the north side of Chicago. She graduated from Northern Illinois University in 1965 with a degree in Education and began her career teaching for the Chicago Public Schools, and later at the former Robert Morris College (now part of Roosevelt University). She later joined her husband's real estate appraisal business.

Diane held a deep faith in the Lord as a lifelong member of St. Andrews Greek Orthodox Church. In Diane's spare time, she was an avid reader of novels, tended to her flower garden and played bridge. Her true love was the dear family and friends she leaves behind on her journey to her late husband, whom she cared for lovingly in the final years of his life.

Visitation Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hursen Funeral Home, 4001 Roosevelt Rd, Hillside, IL 60162. Funeral service Wednesday, December 3, 2025, 10:00 AM at Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church, 5649 North Sheridan Road, Chicago, IL 60660. Interment to follow at Elmwood Cemetery, River Grove, IL.
