Diane J. Godlewski, of Sweet Valley, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2026, at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore following a brief illness.
Born June 15, 1966, in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Angela Zaniewski Trentowski.
Diane dedicated over 20 years of her career to Abe's Hot Dogs in Kingston, where she made countless connections and friends. She also contributed her talents at the Plains Pub, showcasing her vibrant personality and making her mark as a cherished colleague. Her enthusiasm for work was matched only by her passion for her family and the beautiful garden she cultivated with great care and pride.
Educated at Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, Diane carried an adventurous spirit that inspired those around her. She spent countless hours tending to her garden, finding joy, peace, and purpose in the soil. The bountiful harvest from her garden was a source of delight that she generously shared with family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter and warmth. "Her hands, so often in the soil, now rest."
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Snarski, and her brother, Vincent Trentowski. Their spirits now linger in the hearts of those who loved her, serving as a gentle reminder of the remarkable life she led.
She is survived by many who will carry forward her adventurous spirit, remember her dazzling smile, boundless energy, and unwavering belief in living life to the fullest.
Diane is survived by her devoted husband, John Godlewski; sons, James and his wife, Brianne; John and his wife, Nanette; and Erik. She was deeply loved as a sister to Christine Wachilla and her husband, Stephen, and cherished as a proud grandmother to four grandchildren who were the light of her life. Diane also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated nursing staff of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital CVICU, the compassionate caregivers at the Hospice of the Sacred Heart in Dunmore, and the Gift of Life. As one of Diane's guiding beliefs stated, "In giving, we receive; in donating, we live on."
As per Diane's wishes, there will be no services. If you so wish, you can make a donation in Diane's name to the charity of your choice.
"Plant a tree, grow a garden, and watch it thrive."
