Diane A. Hendon, age 83, of Elgin, IL, passed away on July 16, 2025. She was born May 30, 1942 in Chicago, IL to her loving parents, Joseph and Esther (née Rataiczak) Pionke.

Diane graduated from St Stanislaus Kostka Academy, Class of 1960. She worked as a cleaner for commercial office spaces.

Diane met her husband, Albert, through mutual friends. They were married on September 8, 1963, at the beautiful St. Mary of the Angels Church in Chicago. Together, they shared 57 wonderful years of marriage before Albert's passing in 2021.

Diane was a woman of remarkable warmth, spirit, and generosity. Known for her great work ethic and boundless energy, she brought joy and conversation wherever she went-always ready with a smile, a story, or simply a kind word. Diane loved people and had a natural gift for connecting with others. Her chatty nature lit up every room, making those around her feel welcomed and cared for.

A devoted and loving dog mom, Diane's heart belonged to her beloved Tiffany-affectionately known as "Tiffy." Their bond was special and unwavering, filled with cuddles, companionship, and unconditional love.

Diane found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She had a green thumb and could often be found tending to her garden, surrounded by blooming flowers and the hum of cherished hummingbirds, Max and Molly, who returned to her year after year. She loved decorating for the holidays, crocheting with care and creativity, and losing herself in picture puzzles. Fishing brought her peace and pleasure, especially on local vacations with loved ones.

A talented cook, Diane was known for her comforting, hearty soups-especially her beef barley and chicken soup, which warmed both body and soul.

Some of the most cherished memories with Diane were the little yet unforgettable moments: swimming together on hot summer days, sitting beside her in church, being the enthusiastic room mom on school field trips, and sharing laughter while fishing.

Diane will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her. Her light lives on in every flower she planted, every bowl of soup remembered, every hummingbird that returns, and every heart she touched.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Hendon; and brother, Wayne Pionke. She is survived by her daughters, Denise Stack and Rebecca Hendon; grandchildren, Elise Stack, Timothy Stack, Evan Jerbi, and Amelia Jerbi; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Interment will be private.
