Diane Markham Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Ely Funeral Home - Neptune on Aug. 16, 2023.
Diane Markham, 67, was born on December 16, 1955, at Worth County Hospital in Sylvester, GA to Willie Bell Roberts. She then moved to New Jersey where she continued her life and education. Diane received her diploma from Asbury Park High School in 1972. She departed this life on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, in her home at the Silver Vista Apartments, Neptune Township, NJ.
Diane Markham, affectionately known as "Teeda" or "Teeda Di", was well known for hosting weekly dinners for her family and neighborhood friends on Washington Avenue in Asbury Park. She made sure everyone (family, neighbors, friends, and even the dogs) ate on Sundays. Diane was employed by Chartwells Food Service where she worked in the Neptune Township Public School District for several decades as a lunch aid before retiring in 2019. Diane also did the payroll for her husband's landscaping business. All of these made "Teeda" very familiar with the community residents. Whether she served them food in the schools, or from her kitchen, each plate was served with love and left each person filled with her spirit.
Diane thoroughly enjoyed FAMILY! In 2003, Diane married the love of her life, Luther (Speedo) Markham, Jr. They shared an unconditional love and spent many happy years together maintaining their household. Diane also ensured her one and only son, Jeffrey Roberts, aka "Hot Wheels", was cared for appropriately. Although those were the most important men in her life, she also cared for her entire family all her life.
Diane was predeceased by her mother Willie Bell Maxie, brothers Johnny Will Hawk and Jimmie Lee Roberts, husband Luther Markham Jr., her son Jeffrey Roberts, Step-Son Eric W., grandson Alim "Mook" C., her best friend Julia Judy Vernon and her beloved dog Bruno.
