Diane Harriet "Grygiel" Mondt

Diane Harriet Mondt, 82, of Michigan City, passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2025, in New Buffalo, Michigan. Diane was born May 10, 1943 in South Bend, Indiana, to Stanley and Stephanie (Jusczak) Grygiel. Diane graduated from St. Joseph High School in South Bend and worked as an x-ray technician before her retirement. She also worked for Travelers Insurance, then General Insurance in Michigan City. On June 13, 1979 Diane married William F. Mondt, in Las Vegas, Nevada and moved to Michigan City, IN. She is survived by her son Ron (Julie) Wamser of New Buffalo, Michigan, 2 grandchildren, Kristen Lynn Wamser and Laura Ashley Wamser, both of New Buffalo, her brother George Grygiel of AZ. and her beloved pugs, Pug and Liberty. Diane is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband John Wamser and her second husband William Mondt. Diane was a loving and nurturing mother and grandmother for her 2 grandchildren. She even worked to support Ron through college. She was an excellent Polish cook and maintained a home to its highest potential. Diane enjoyed bowling in leagues at Polish National Alliance in South Bend and Rose Bowl in Michigan City. She went to sales to collect salt and pepper shakers, glassware and other collectables. Diane and Bill enjoyed going metal detecting together to find hidden treasures.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 10:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Otis, Rev. Richard Kozak officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 am until the time of Mass at church. Burial will be at St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery. Newhard Funeral Home of Westville, IN. is in charge of arrangements.
