Diane Nowitzke Obituary

Born on November 29, 1952 in Trenton, Michigan, she was the daughter of Melvin and Shirley (Andrews) Beaker. On December 5, 1970 she married Leon "Peanut" Nowitzke at St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Boston, Michigan.
She was employed with K-Mart in Flat Rock and Woodhaven, and Walmart in Monroe and Woodhaven for over 10 years as a stock handler before retiring June 25, 2013.
Diane was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at the Flat Rock VFW Post 9363. She was a fiercely independent woman that was in control. She was known by all to be an extremely clean person. She loved her grandchildren more than anything. Her hobbies included needlepoint, cross stitch, and traveling north. She was known to take her grandchildren to McDonalds daily at 11 am, (no onions, no pickles). Not only that, she would call her kids and grandkids at least 10 times a day, just to check in on them to see what they were doing. She loved attending the Monroe County Fair, not just to be there for a little bit, but the whole time the fair was operating! If you were ever looking for her on Thursday nights, you can count on her being at Bingo.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Melvin "Mike" Beaker, Frank Beaker, nephew, Chris Beaker.
She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Nowitzke, April (Michael) Cook, grandchildren, Taylor (CJ Morrow) Cook, Lauren Cook, companion, Jimmy Nowitzke, mother in law, Delores "Skip" Nowitzke, sister, Barb (Ron) Nowitzke. A very special thank you to the caregivers, Palma Trent who was with her for 7 months; Nikki Besenbark, her day nurse; Heidi Zilba, Annie Casper, her night nurses. Your care and compassion is greatly appreciated!
Visitation will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm and Friday, July 21, 2023 from 10 am until time of service. Funeral Services will be held at Bobcean Funeral Home on Friday, July 21, 2023 at 1:00 pm. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Flat Rock, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Flat Rock VFW Post 9363 or Toys for Tots.
