Olga Helen Nowitzke

Olga Helen Nowitzke, 95, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2025, at Independence Manor at Hunterdon.
Born on July 10, 1929, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Olga was the daughter of the late Louis and Julia (Czargo) Demetzky. She spent much of her life in Dayton and North Brunswick.
Olga was a graduate of Jamesburg High School and went on to study nursing at Middlesex General School of Nursing. She dedicated many years to caring for others as a nurse at Middlesex General Hospital, now known as Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Beyond her career, Olga was a devoted mother and grandmother, always cheering on her children and grandchildren in their athletic pursuits. She also found joy in knitting, sewing, and crocheting, hobbies that reflected both her creativity and the traditions of her time.
Olga was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Nowitzke, in 2011; her grandson, William in 2019; her brothers, Gordon and Louis Demetzky; and her sisters, Irene Feaster, Grace Demetzky, and Margaret Kozma.
She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen Johnson and her husband, Albert, and Eileen Idleman; her sons, Donald Nowitzke and his wife, Kathy, and Michael Nowitzke and his wife, Lisa. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Billy, Steven, Ryan, Leigh, Joseph, and Daniel; two great-grandchildren, William and Rudy; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at Gleason Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick, NJ 08902, on Friday, February 28, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at 9:30 A.M. at Emmanuel Reformed Episcopal Church, 100 Grant Avenue, Somerville, NJ. Family and friends are kindly asked to arrive by 9:15 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick.
