In Loving Memory of Diane Reeves

Diane Reeves was born on August 24, 1950, in Rosedale, Mississippi to Mack Garrett Sr. and Cleo Garrett. She was the youngest of three siblings and the cherished only daughter. Seeking a brighter future, Mr. and Mrs. Garrett relocated their family from Mississippi to Detroit, Michigan, where they pursued new opportunities and a better life.

Diane attended Detroit Public Schools and later graduated from Northwestern High School. During her time there, she was active in track and field, blossomed into adulthood, and discovered her remarkable organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and talent for multitasking. After high school, Diane was accepted into an apprenticeship program at General Motors, where she trained in clerical and administrative support.

Diane's professional journey included roles at AC Delco and The American Heart Association, but she found her true calling at Ford Motor Company. Over the years, she held several executive administrative assistant positions, culminating in her retirement on September 14, 2018 as a valued member of the HR Labor and Affairs Department.

While Diane excelled professionally, her true passion was interior design. She was renowned among family and friends for her exceptional eye for color coordination, an innate understanding of hues, and her ability to transform any space into a welcoming and beautiful home environment.

In 1969, Diane married and was blessed with two children, Anika and Nikai Reeves. Their union lasted eighteen years. Later in life, Diane met and fell in love with Ernest Lyons. Though Ernest preceded her in death, their bond remained unbreakable and was reflected in Diane's final wishes.

Diane departed this life on March 6, 2026. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Mack Sr. and Cleo, her two older brothers, Mack Jr. and David, and her dear companion, Ernest Lyons. Diane leaves to cherish her memory her loving children, Anika (Jerome) and Nikai; her grandchildren, Kaiyah, Kaitlynn, Vincent, and Jeremiah; her sisters-in-law, Willor and Kelly Garrett; her nieces, nephews, a host of cousins, extended family, and many dear friends.

Diane is recognized for her creativity, resilience, determination in overcoming challenges, and unwavering dedication. Her legacy includes a reputation for love, grace, and kindness extended to all who had the opportunity to know her.
