Diane M. Reitz

Diane M. (nee May) Reitz, 76, passed away peacefully on July 24, 2024, surrounded by her family. Diane was born on April 13, 1948 to Arthur and Ann (Troyer) May, and grew up on a farm in Portage County.
She is survived by her high-school sweetheart and husband of 52 years, Bill, their daughter Victoria (Mike) Burt and son Brian (Kathleen) Reitz, along with three grandsons whom she adored: Henry, Charlie, and Donovan. She also leaves behind sisters and brothers Margie Kelly, Jackie Wittman, Joe May, Fred (Erika) May, Ed (Laura) May, and Laurie (Rick) Johnson, and more than 25 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Christine Chase and brothers-in-law Joe Kelly, John Wittman, and John Chase.
Diane's special laugh and smile will be missed by those who knew and loved her. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, music, and traveling, and she devoted her time and energy to every community she was involved with, including the Silver Lake Towers where she lived.
A lover of music, Diane sang alto and was a long-time member of the Akron Symphony Chorus, St. Cecilia Choral Society, and the Silver Lake Singers among others, and throughout her life sang with her church choirs.
Diane and Bill spent several years living abroad, first in Australia and then with their children in Aberdeen, Scotland. They also enjoyed many family vacations across the country. Diane enjoyed her work as a medical secretary and transcriptionist before she retired.
Visitation will be Friday, August 2, 2024 from 4:00-7:00pm at Bissler and Sons Funeral Home, 628 W. Main St. Kent, OH 44240. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 3, 2024 at St. Eugene Catholic Church, 1821 Munroe Falls Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221.
