Diane Elizabeth Robinson

It is with deep sorrow that we announce that Diane Elizabeth Robinson, affectionately known
as "Mammie" to many, passed away on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, at the age of 79, at Gilchrist
Hospice in Columbia, MD.
Diane was a strong, independent, and often wonderfully stubborn woman whose deep love
for her family was undeniable. She navigated life on her own terms, enjoyed working, and
helping people. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren and her beloved
great-granddaughter, Lyla. She will be deeply missed at family game nights, sharing
margaritas, and dancing with her signature "elbows out" style.
Diane is survived by her devoted children, Robin Barrett and her husband Timothy, and Stacy
Robertson and her husband Gary. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Crystal
Barrett and her daughter Lyla, Breeanna Mihalko, Travis Barrett and his wife Desiree, and Gary
Robertson II and his wife Jessie. Diane is also survived by her sister, Leann Abernathy, and her
niece, Gina O'Neill and her husband Mike O'Neill.
She was preceded in death by her beloved family members: her father, Charles Shuniak; her
mother, Elizabeth Shuniak Laymen; her stepfather, Herman Layman; and her son, Leonard
Mihalko II.
As the quote says, "When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a
treasure." Diane's memory will indeed be treasured by all who knew and loved her.
In lieu of a traditional funeral service, a celebration of Diane's life will be scheduled at a later
date. If you wish to express your condolences or would like to attend the celebration of life,
