Diane Root Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holbrook Mortuary - Salt Lake City on Apr. 10, 2024.
Diane Francis Root, a cherished soul known for her love of music, animals, and unwavering kindness, passed away on April 2, 2024, at the age of 67. Diane was born on March 13, 1957, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Ray and Pauline Root. Her departure leaves a void in the hearts of all who knew her, yet her memory will forever be cherished and celebrated.
Diane's love for music was boundless, with a profound appreciation for all genres, but her heart resonated most deeply with the melodies of The Beatles. Music was her solace, her companion through life's joys and sorrows, weaving through the fabric of her existence.
An ardent admirer of animals, Diane's heart overflowed with compassion for all creatures great and small. Her collection of stuffed animals was a testament to her affection for the furry companions who brought her endless joy and comfort.
Diane married Frank Chavez but later divorced but endured as a lifelong friendship.
Despite facing challenges from an early age, Diane's indomitable spirit and resilience illuminated her path. Her brother, Steven Root, cherished the honor of having Diane as part of their family, a bond fortified by love and shared experiences.
Diane is survived by her brother Steven Root, and his wife Pamela, niece Stephanie Ford, nephew Christopher Root, and great-nephew Evan Root, who were blessed to have Diane as part of their lives, enriching each day with her presence.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who provided care and love for Diane, especially the compassionate team at Sandstone in Holladay, Utah, who supported her with kindness and dignity.
Diane is preceded in death by her father, Ray W. Root, mother, Pauline R. Root, and nephew, Timothy J. Root. While her physical may be gone, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Diane's presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In accordance with her wishes, Diane will be cremated, and the family will not be holding services, requesting privacy during this time.
Though Diane may have embarked on her next journey, her spirit will continue to resonate through the memories she shared with those she loved. May she find eternal peace, surrounded by the melodies of her beloved music.

April 22, 2024

I have known Diane for about seven years. My husband and I serve as church meeting coordinators there for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Sometimes Diane was mostly happy to see us but sometimes not depending on how she was feeling that day. However, the last couple of years we have become warm friends and I have enjoyed visiting with her. I love her very much. The last time I saw her she wasn't feeling like having company, but we wanted to give her a birthday card. I asked her what she needed, and she said, "Just give me a kiss." I'm sending love to your family and missing my sweet friend. Nancy Weidner
