Kay Nacey Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Holbrook Mortuary - Salt Lake City on Dec. 22, 2025.
Kay Solomon Nacey was born in Salt Lake City May 19, 1945, to Paul Solomon and Afton Schettler, and died December 19, 2025, at age 80 from natural causes, watched over by her family and the staff of Beehive Homes and Symbii Hospice in Millcreek.

She is preceded in death by her father Paul, her mother Afton, her sister Geniel Robison, and her grandson Taylor. She is survived by her sister Joyce Caldwell, her daughter Jamie McCleery (Brian), her son Jason (Jennifer), her son Jared (Megan), six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

Graduating from Highland High School, she married Jim Nacey January 25, 1966, with whom she had three children. They would later divorce, but Kay never remarried, spending her career working at RC Willey.

A loving, kind, welcoming woman, Kay was a quintessential mother and grandmother in every sense of the words. There was little, if anything, that gave her more joy than weekly Sunday visits from her family, and the summers she spent with her grandkids, where she would teach them to sew and crochet, and always make sure they never left with an empty stomach.

Her children and grandchildren gave her life and endless joy, and she loved them with all of her heart, spending hours crocheting each of them a full-size Afghan, treasured keepsakes with her love in every stitch. She would always complain when it was time for any of her family to go home: "But you just got here!"

She will be forever and fondly remembered for her warm personality, her sense of humor, and her infinite love for her family, which she shared constantly and readily, even at the very end.

The Lord brought home a soul to warm the heavens, and she will be dearly missed by all the souls who had the pleasure of meeting her.

A viewing for Kay will take place on Friday, December 26, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, Millcreek, Utah.
