Diane Daniel Sledge, 91, of Wendell, passed away August 15, 2025, in Johnston County. She was born May 29, 1934, in Wake County, to the late Gardner Puckett Daniel and Evelyn Blount Daniel.
Diane grew up in the Knightdale Baptist community and later became a member of Hephzibah Baptist Church when she married John. She had a deep love for nature and found joy in gardening and spending peaceful days at the lake with her family. Diane was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and a steady presence in the lives of those who knew her.
Diane is survived by her sons, John Sledge (Becky) and Marshall Sledge (Cynthia); grandchildren, John Brandon Sledge (Ashley) and Brittny Sledge Thompson (Mike); and great-grandchildren, Parker Sledge, Morgan Thompson, and Myles Thompson. She is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Marshall Sledge, and her sister, Barbara Sheffield.
A visitation will be held Friday August 22, 2025, from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Hephzibah Baptist Church, with a funeral service starting at 3:00 pm, with Pastor Gordon Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the residence 913 Edgemont Rd., Wendell, NC, 27591 on Thursday, August 21, 2025, from 6:30 pm until 8:30 pm.
