Adrain "Jack" Murray Jr.

Adrain "Jack" Murray Jr., 77, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was born in Wake County to the late Adrain Murray Sr. and Lettie P. Murray. Jack was a graduate of Wakelon High School in 1966. He was later drafted into the US Army where he served until 1967. In 1967 he was employed at Westinghouse where he performed numerous jobs during a career of 46 years. He also worked as a security guard part time for different companies for a big part of his adult life. He spent his last few years working part time at Lowe's Home Improvement in Knightdale as a greeter, where he was able to do one of his favorite things-talking to people.
Jack never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. His faith in God, his work ethic, and love for his family attributed to his wonderful character. Jack found great joy in his family, in his work, fishing, mowing his grass, watching Nascar races, and watching wrestling.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son Rodney A. Murray, his sisters Margaret, Annie-Frances, and Linda, and countless aunts, uncles and cousins.
Jack is survived by his wife of 54 years Stella, son Adrian and wife Kathy, daughter-in-law Amanda, and sister-in-law Lois, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be truly missed by his family, his coworkers, and his community.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Strickland Funeral Home, with Pastor Earl Roach officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00-2:00 PM.
