Diane F. Smalley

Diane F. Smalley, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully at her home in Bexley, Ohio, on December 13, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on August 3, 1947, in Zanesville, Ohio, Diane brought joy, laughter, and warmth to everyone around her. She was a radiant spirit who never knew a stranger, always embracing life with a happy-go-lucky attitude that endeared her to all.

Diane dedicated 31 years of her professional life to the Franklin County Clerk of Courts, where she was appreciated for her hard work and unwavering commitment to her community. A proud graduate of West Muskingham High School in Zanesville, Diane's educational journey laid the foundation for a life filled with experiences and cherished relationships.

Traveling was one of Diane's greatest passions, particularly adventures with her treasured group of friends, some of whom she had known for over fifty years. Her love for cruising allowed her to explore new horizons and create beautiful memories that she held dear. Additionally, Diane was an enthusiastic participant in a softball league, a pursuit that brought her much happiness and camaraderie. The joyful celebrations that followed each game were a testament to her spirited personality and zest for life.

Diane leaves behind her loving husband, Charles Smalley, who was her partner through thick and thin. She was a proud mother to her daughter, Nicole Tolbert, and her son, Troy Smalley. As a grandmother, Diane delighted in the lives of her grandchildren, Ashley, Caitlin, and Brandon, and held her great-grandchildren, Izaya, Layja, and Anthony, in her heart with immense love.

She is survived by her sister Deb Tom and her brother Lance Riehl, who will forever cherish their memories together. Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Martha Riehl, and her brother, Tom Riehl, all of whom she missed dearly.

A memorial gathering to celebrate Diane's life will take place on December 27, 2024, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM, with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM, at Newcomer - Northeast Chapel, located at 3047 East Dublin Granville Road, Columbus, OH 43231.
