Diane Adele Szugyi

Diane Adele Szugyi, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and creative soul, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2025, in Pensacola, FL.

Born in Birmingham, MI, on September 11, 1941, she was the cherished daughter of Ronald G. Barber and Rhoda E. Barber (née Buckler).

Known for her artistic flair and youthful spirit, Diane was a passionate crafter whose hands brought much beauty into the world. She had a whimsical eye for the charming and unusual, collecting seashells and knick-knacks that reflected her playful nature and love of life's small wonders.

She is preceded in death by her infant son, Ernest Szugyi Jr.; who passed away at just eight months old and brothers, Ronald, David, and Jonathan Barber.

Diana was survived by her dear and devoted husband of 65 years, Ernest Szugyi, who followed her in passing just two weeks later-a testament to the profound love and connection they shared throughout their lives. Diane leaves behind three daughters, Ellen (Fred) Greene, Deborah (Donal) Carty, and Linda Szugyi (Wayne Hill). Diane's legacy continues through her seven grandchildren, Camille Langiotti, Emily Carty, Erin Carty, Eva Greene, Ryan Carty, Xander Hill, and Gavin Hill; as well as her two brothers, George (and wife Diana) Barber and Fredrick (and wife Bernadette) Barber

A memorial service to celebrate Diane and Ernest's life will be held at New Testament Fellowship Church on October 25, 2025 at 2 p.m. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a woman whose personality was a combination of grit and grace. Those who loved her will hold her forever in their hearts.
