Mrs. Dianne Dillard Rowland, age 83, passed away on Saturday morning, September 14, 2024 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.
Funeral services are planned for 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 17, at First Methodist Church., with Rev. Daryl Brown officiating. A family interment service will follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Tifton.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday at First Methodist Church, between the hours of 1:00 & 2:00 PM, and at other times at the home of Jennifer and Allen Ledger, 375 Clements Road in Americus.
The following gentlemen are asked to serve as pallbearers: Jerry Rowland, Jr., Allen Ledger, Bryce Woodward, Braden Rowland, Jeremy Ledger, and Lee Royal.
Members of the Wesley Epworth Sunday School Class of First Methodist Church are asked to serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born June 27, 1941 in Montgomery, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late George Kenneth Dillard and the late Frances Withrow Dillard Holland. She was a member of First Methodist Church, and a 1961 graduate of ABAC, majoring in home economics. She cooked wonderful meals and was talented to be able to sew her daughters’ clothes and in caning chairs. Mrs. Rowland was able to stay home with her children and began working when her youngest began kindergarten. She worked for 24 years as financial secretary for Cherokee Elementary School. She and her husband Jerry enjoyed trips to the mountains of North Carolina where they have a cabin in Franklin.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Laura Rowland Royal and Chris Royal; grandson Zachary Royal; great-grandson, Jace Royal; brother Ken Dillard; and brother-in-law Hugh Hambrick.
Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Jerry Monroe Rowland; children: Jennifer Rowland Ledger (Allen) and Jerry Rowland, Jr. (Dana); grandchildren: Lee Royal, Sara Royal, Matthew Ledger, Jeremy Ledger, Bryce Woodward, and Braden Rowland; great-grandchildren: Jordan Royal and Jackson Royal; sister Carol Hambrick; step-brother Tommy Holland (Mimi); and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
