Obituary published on Legacy.com by Custer-Glenn Funeral Home Inc from Oct. 24 to Oct. 26, 2025.
Dianne Kay Scott, age 78, of
Wooster, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at her home in Wooster following a period of declining health. Her loving family was by her side.
She was born in Oneida, Ohio, in 1946 to Earl and Gladys (Totten) Leyda.
Dianne had previously worked at the former Rubbermaid in Wooster for over 17 years and was a member of Wooster Elks Lodge #1346.
In her early years, she loved dancing and spending time with her siblings and friends. Whether Dianne was tending to her tomatoes, guiding a little hand through a recipe, or standing up for what she believed was right, she embodied love in every action.
Dianne loved her family fiercely. She enjoyed spending Wednesdays with her best friend, Mary, and visits with her close friend Neil. Christmas was her favorite time of the year, and no one ever went without a birthday card. She was driven to win, even when dealt a poor hand or a weak partner, during card club. When thrifting, she knew everyone's size and what they needed. She nurtured everyone with home-cooked meals.
Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandsons. She is reunited with her husband of 36 years, Thurman Scott.
She is survived by her three children: Robin (Tim) Shaum, of Apple Creek, John (Amy) Scott, of Fredericksburg, and Shawn (Krissy) Scott, of Wooster; Her eight grandchildren: Richelle (Alex) Breneman, Jacklynn Shaum, Seth Shaum, Sierra Scott, Michael Scott, Todd Scott, Johnny Scott, Ally (Chase) Campbell; As well as her seven great-grandsons: Caden, Nash, Nathan, Josey, Linkin, Jack, and Thomas; Her two sisters: Linda Martindale and Beverly (Gary) Neuman, along with two brothers: Tom (Janice) Leyda and Roger Leyda.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Scott, and his son, Robert Scott, three sisters: Pat Newman, Sue Fiddler, and Pam Sewell, along with three brothers: Larry Leyda, Dave Leyda, and John Leyda.
Though her chair may be empty, the warmth she gave remains in every home-cooked meal, each story retold, and the sparks of courage she has left behind.
Services will take place on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, 12:00 pm at Custer-Glenn Funeral Home in Wooster with Pastor Merlyn Winters officiating followed by interment at Wooster Cemetery.
