After high school graduation, she attended Stewarts School of Hairstyling in Aberdeen, SD and graduated in the spring of 1964. After graduation, she worked for a couple of years as a beautician in Huron, SD and Redfield, SD.

On January 8th, 1967, she married Jerry West from Colville, WA in Redfield, SD. They made their home 10 miles east of Ashton, SD where Jerry farmed all of his life, until retirement. To this marriage, three children were born: Cynthia, Roger and Karen. Jerry passed away on August 20th, 2020. Dianne continued to live on the family farm until her battle with cancer prompted her to receive continuous care at the Eastern Star Home in Redfield, SD.

Dianne led a very active life. She was on bowling teams and bowled for thirty years. She was involved in two card organizations in both Redfield and Frankfort, SD, playing whist and triply marathons. She was involved in many social clubs in the Redfield area including: the Red Hatter's of Redfield, the Frankfort Bible Study Group, the Ashton Birthday Club, and the Ruth Circle at the Redfield Methodist Church, where she was involved in several committees. In addition, when her kids were active in 4-H, she held various leader roles in the 4-H club in Ashton, SD.

Dianne loved nature and many hobbies involving such. She loved to go fishing, tending to her flowers and vegetable gardens each spring and summer, camping and going on bus trips to various states with her husband, Jerry. She and Jerry were members of the Good Sam Camping Club of Faulkton, SD. In addition, she had many farm cats and enjoyed caring for them.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Cynthia (Terry) Hoppe of Sioux Falls, SD; her son, Roger West, Redfield, SD; her daughter, Karen (Steve) Stahlke, Watertown, SD; her grandsons, Austin Stahlke, Brookings, SD; Evan Stalhke, Watertown, SD; her granddaughter, Emily Stahlke, Watertown, SD; her sister, Marlene Marlow of Huron, SD; her brother, Darryl (Denice) Taylor of Cumming, IA; and many nieces and nephews.
