Dick D. Richardson

Dick D. Richardson, 65, of Overland Park, Kansas passed away peacefully at home on July 24, 2022 after a brief illness. He leaves behind his wife, Cathy, step-children Lee and Katie, and sister, Lynn. Dick was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Larry and nephew, Daniel.

Dick was born on January 3, 1957 to Chuck and Elaine Richardson in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Southwest High School in Kansas City in 1975 he went on to study Respiratory Therapy. He spent twenty plus years working at Research Hospital in Kansas City as a Respiratory Therapist and enjoyed his co-workers and time there.

Between high school and Research Hospital Dick worked at the Raphael Hotel where he made many close friends and memories. Most stories associated with the Raphael can be told and bring a laugh or chuckle to say the least.

One of Dick's biggest passions was music. He was an avid guitar player. He spent countless hours perfecting his ability to play, sing, and write songs. When Dick wasn't working or playing the guitar he was listening to music, attending Chief's games or watching them play on TV.

Dick was a devoted member of Christ Community Evangelical Free Church. He loved the Lord, music, guitars, Fourth of July and Pensacola Beach, Florida.

Dick's ashes will be scattered at a later date at Pensacola Beach, a spot that he loved and was very meaningful to him for so many reasons. The Richardson clan annually spent the entire months of May and September at the family beach house on Pensacola Beach. That being said, Dick started each school year and ended each school year at Pensacola Beach attending school, swimming in the gulf and jumping the waves. What sweet memories for a school boy, a teenager and then as an adult.

Dick was loved and will be greatly missed. Rest in peace and "Rock On, my man".
