Diego Raul Alonzo, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 21 on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, in San Diego, California. Born on August 23, 2003, in Topeka, Kansas, Diego's vibrant spirit and infectious courage touched all who knew him.
Diego's early years were spent in the heart of Topeka, where he attended Meadows Elementary and Jardine Middle School. He later moved to San Antonio, Texas, where he continued his education at Stinson Middle School. Diego went on to graduate from Brandeis High School in May 2021, a milestone celebrated with great pride by his family and friends.
Following his graduation, Diego answered the call to serve his country and joined the U.S. Navy in November of 2021. As an operations specialist, he demonstrated remarkable dedication and skill, earning the respect and admiration of his peers and superiors alike. His service was a testament to his adventurous spirit and his commitment to the values he held dear.
Diego's passion for life was evident in his love for powerlifting. The gym was his sanctuary, a place where he not only built physical strength but also forged unbreakable bonds with fellow enthusiasts. His leisure time was often spent watching movies and cherishing moments with his beloved wife, Giana, who was his partner in every adventure and the love of his life.
Described by those who knew him as courageous, loving, and adventurous, Diego lived his life with boldness and a sincerity that inspired everyone around him. He is survived by his wife, Giana Alonzo; his parents, Benji Alonzo (Debra) and Amber N. Alonzo ; his sisters, Trinity Alonzo and Esperanza Alonzo; stepsister, Megan Goelz; grandparents, Richard Chavez (Christy) and Michelle Renee; and his parents-in-law, Gilbert Tovar (Elaine) and Grace Tovar; along with extended family and friends. Diego was predeceased by his cherished family members Trinidad Chavez, Rachel Chavez, Raul Alonzo, Patricia Fogleman, and Beverly Alonzo.
Diego's departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his legacy of love, strength, and adventure will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to Diego, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the indelible impact he made on our lives. His memory will be cherished forever.
